Another short and fun hike with a great view of Spray Lake. I’ve never seen so many people parked on the side of the road on the Smith-Dorrien - everyone seems to be itching to get out these days. The hike was busy but there was plenty of space for groups to pass each other.

The lower third of the hiking trail goes through pleasant green forest. I have to say that this squishy, mossy ground was some of the most pleasant hiking my feet have ever experienced.

Very shortly after we started hiking, we came across this boulder field. Picking our way up it was fun and not as tiring as bashing up the actual trail to the right.

The summit up ahead.

The final scree slog up to the summit was quite steep and slippery and it was terrifying at times, especially with flying rocks everywhere.

The views at the summit were great and also very airy - note the perilous drop in all directions.

We even spotted hikers trudging up the nearby Windtower.

Rimwall’s on the list!
