Powderface Ridge II

It was easy going to the east ridge, then a lot of slow post holing through crusty snow to the north ridge. We encountered some couples taking wedding photos at the summit. The north summit was totally dry and way nicer than the east ridge. I wished we could have kept going down via the pleasant looking north slopes. Next time, I will have to try approaching this hike from the other direction.

The distinctive Banded Peak.
Mandatory photo of tiny downtown Calgary in the distance!
The ominous-looking trail into the forest towards the north ridge.
The super-sketchy climb up to the north summit. We tried to find a way around it but couldn’t…luckily for us, it was totally dry beyond this snow wall.
This was funny…while I was taking photos of the couple and their photographer, he was also taking photos of me.
A glorious-looking ridge walk that I was sad to miss. Nihahi Ridge is the backdrop.
